First I tried gluing the mitered joints with the framing clamp alone, I had some issues.. so then I used two 90 degree angle braces to get my first corners, that went well, if opposing corners are true, then it is square.. right? So I bought another pair and dry fit each brace into place, then as quickly as possible glued and re-clamped before the glue set up. After 90 minutes the clamps came off, and I’d glue another. The next day, I took the braces out to the shop and sanded to smooth any off areas, then glued the top on. I used a panel larger than the finished brace, this allowed for the movement of the panel on the brace while the glued piece was clamped and dried, and also allowed for any deviance to square the brace may have had.
